Radiology is known to be expert in medical specialty with its distinguish technology effect. The origins of specialization can be seen on the nature of x-ray image capture and also most importantly the difficulty of exposing, transporting and developing images on fragile glass plates for detailed interpretation.
Even the pressure back in early 1900s in defining radiology as technical service is required medical trained specialist. Therefore, radiology have been clinical specialists who have been expert in image capture technology, broad based advanced engineering and recently the application of IT for Healthcare. As of now, Radiology has become the key diagnostic tool for diseases and plays an important role in treatment and predicting outcome of the disease.
Technological advances in digital imaging enables the image to be post process, manipulated and also transmitted rapidly all over the world. And being a part of improving the service in PHC system, enhanced radiology would like to activate the initiative.
To integrate the services between primary health care centers, and hospital radiology services in Qassim Health Cluster, (KFSH , BCH , KSH, ALRASS general hospital)
Starting the initiative with KFSH, BCH with 4 Primary Health Care System until the expansion plan.

•Reduce the number of referrals to specialized clinics.

•Reduced the occupation of specialized clinics, and associated cost.
The patient shall book visit with family physician in Primary Health Center.
A Service request shall be accomplished by the physician based on assessment and
findings.
the patient will lnform about his appointment through SMS.
-Radiology department coordinator of secondary care Hospital must confirm patient
appointment.
-Verification of the service appointment shall be done.
-Patients who are deemed not fit will be rescheduled.
- Patients who are fit shall undergo the procedure.
-A Radiologist Report shall be accomplished after the procedure and made
available through RIS/PACS/TELE-RAD
-Patient shall inform about the precaution before contrast medium administration
-Previous History to contrast reaction.
-Follow MOH guideline in premedication regimens .
Asthmatic patient
- Follow ACR card guideline in premedication regimens.
Renal lnsufficiency
-baseline serum creatinine should be available or obtained before
the injection of contrast medium in all patients.
-Pregnancy risk factor
-Any married female patient in productive life must have
pregnancy test before 72 hours.
-Fasting
-Fasting patient before 6 hours in order to avoid vomiting
Elective and accelerated premedication regimens ..
Option Medication Dose Route Timing
A: Elective premedication
7 hours, and 1 hour
before CM administration Prednisone 50 mg PO*
1 hour before CM
administration. + Diphenhydramineâ–² 50 mg IV, IM or PO*
B: Accelerated premedication (in decreasing order of desirability)
immediately, and then
every 4 hours until CM
administration (each)IV.
